About

Lumoriaon is a small, independent index of hotels in four categories: art, capsule, casino and ice.

Each category gathers a handful of properties that share one unusual trait. An art hotel puts its collection to work. A capsule hotel trades the room for a pod. A casino hotel is a large resort with a gaming floor among its facilities. An ice hotel is built from frozen river water and rebuilt each year.

How entries are chosen

We pick hotels that show their category clearly and that are operating under the name we list. Entries are spread across several countries where the category allows it. Some categories are naturally narrow; the ice section holds a single property for that reason.

How entries are written

Every entry is short prose. We cover the setting, the building and what a stay is like, and we leave out anything we could not stand behind without a citation. There are no ratings, no scores and no prices. Facts such as opening hours, room types and facilities change, so check with the hotel before you travel.

Independence

No hotel has paid for a place in this index or reviewed its entry before publication. We do not take bookings, and links to hotels are there for your convenience only.
